David Doherty is hard to classify. With fourteen years in the entertainment field, he has developed an acute sense of visual development as well as the ability to flesh out a project from concept to completion. He has an extensive background in the design development of themed entertainment venues, including Universal's "Islands of Adventure" in Orlando and Universal Studios Japan. And David was a layout artist for the Fox series "King of the Hill" in the only season in which the show won an Emmy for best animated series.
Recently David has completed archival research for the Warner Bros. DVD releases of "The Adventures of Robin Hood", "Yankee Doodle Dandy," and "Treasure of the Sierra Madre." He was responsible for locating the historic production elements from these films that were included in documentaries and galleries to accompany the DVD's.
David's fine art reflects his varied interests. His design vision is intentionally theatrical to the point of being operatic. A Los Angeles Times review described his work as being "Mystery filled." Coupled with an education in "Traditional Fine Art," he has also focused on the mechanics of film, primarily animation, and film history.
